Missouri Pacific RR History Time-line
1887 - 1982 McGehee, AR to Monroe, LA
- March 1887 the Houston, Central Arkansas & Northern Railroad Co was incorporated in Louisiana to build northward from Monroe to the Louisiana-Arkansas border.
- May 1887 the same company was incorporated to build south from Monroe to the La-Tx border.
- March 1889 the two companies were consolidated under the same name.
- Early 1890 construction began at the La-Ark border and continued through Monroe to Alexandria. Completed July 1892, a distance of 144.59 miles, completed from La-Ark border to Monroe June 1890.
- Jan 1, 1890 the Houston, Central Arkansas & Northern Railway Co was incorporated in Arkansas. It was built from a junction with the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railroad at McGehee to the Arkansas-Louisiana border.
- June 25, 1890 the H,CA&N Ry Co was completed from McGehee to the Ark-La border, connecting with the H,CA&N RR Co, which completed through rail service from Little Rock to Monroe.
- April 29, 1893 the H,CA&N RR Co in Louisiana executed and delivered a deed conveying their railroad, a distance of 144.59 miles, to the Alexandria and St. Louis Railway Co. The H,CA&N RR Co. then ceased to exist.
- Nov 23, 1893 the Alexandria & St. Louis Railway Co. delivered a deed to the H,CA&N Ry Co in Arkansas a deed conveying all it's Louisiana property, 144.59 miles. The Alexandria and St. Louis Railway Co. ceased to exist.
- Dec 13, 1893 the H,CA&N Ry Co. delivered a deed to the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railway Co. conveying all it's railroad from Alexandria, LA to McGehee, AR to the St.L,IM&S Ry Co. The H,CA&N Ry Co. then ceased to exist.
- June 1, 1917 the Missouri Pacific Railroad Co absorbed the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Ry Co.
- Dec 22, 1982 the Union Pacific Railroad Co. merged with the Missouri Pacific Railroad Co. and the Western Pacific Railroad;changing it's name to Union Pacific System. A name it goes by today.
