This 52 page horizonal format book covers Missouri Pacific's last decade of steam operations in Kansas. Lloyd Stagner, a retire ATSF employee, brings his professional railroad knowledge into the captioning and text. Five chapters cover the various divisions the railroad operated during this period with a detailed overview of yard, passenger and freight operations of each described. Division maps show stations and coaling and water facilities along the routes. The book has a total of 66 black and white photos and does a wonderful job in covering the Mopac's Kansas trains and locomotives. Page 51 is a April 19, 1940 list of steam locomotives assigned to the Kansas operations with engine numbers and specific train assignments. Review By Charles Duckworth
